Strachur

The Strachur Wind Turbine was proposed to make a significant contribution to the long term sustainability plans of the Strachur Estate in Argyll.

Lomond Energy managed the project from feasibility, through design & planning application to permission, with connection to electricity grid planned alongside an existing small hydro plant which provided spare capacity.

Whilst planning permission was secured, the turbine has not been built due to its marginal economics following a wind monitoring campaign which revealed a lower wind resource than anticipated.

The project remains under review as new wind turbine technology develops.
